Minority Business Executive Program Alumni Website and Management System
Background:
Tuck Executive Education Program first contacted 53 Technology to
was looking for a way to upgrade their Minority Business Executive
Program Alumni website including: offering federal agencies greater
access to its minority business executive program alumni; consolidating
multiple data sources into a central repository; streamlining internal
processes; and automating the data migration from program applicant to
alumni.
The Problem:
The problem was 2-fold. Tuck wanted to give federal agencies access
to their minority alumni’s services, and Tuck Staff was using 5
different datasources.
The Solution:
53 Technology was first contracted to provide consultancy services
to Tuck. Over several meetings with Tuck staff, existing systems and
processes were reviewed and near-term and future goals were identified.
53 delivered to Tuck an overview of Tuck’s existing systems and offered
several options for streamlining processes and updating technology.
Once the proper option was decided, 53 was then contracted to design
and execute a plan to develop a new web application and site, migrate
data from old systems, test, document and train users, and roll out the
new system. 53 continues to host and provide support for the system.
System Features:
- The Alumni Website and Management System enables:
- Alumni
to view Alumni Directory information in various ways; maintain their
personal information; keep up-to-date on alumni news and events; and
take part in threaded discussions with their classmates and Tuck Faculty
- Federal
agencies and other registered users to search alumni by several
criteria including industry, sales volume and business location
- Tuck staff to maintain program information, alumni
information and site content via a CMS without involvement from a
website provider.
- Automated migration of successful applicant data
from a third-party system used to collect executive program
applications to the new alumni website (once applicants complete their
program)
- The system architecture and data model were designed to ease future expansion to include CRM functionality.
- The previous system’s 4 data sources were streamlined and consolidated into one comprehensive system.
